On the evening of 24th September, 2019, an earthquake of 5.8 magnitude hit some areas of AJ&K. Mirpur and its surrounding hamlets were badly affected resulting in 39 causalities, more than 700 injured and infrastructure damage to roads, bridges and homes.
Islamic Relief Pakistan’s emergency team initiated its response within the first 36 hours. Starting with rapid needs assessment followed by distribution of lifesaving aid such as temporary shelters, hygiene kits, tarpaulin sheets and kitchen sets. We have ensured to address the needs of those affected by staying in close contact with the community and the government line departments.
