Local communities battling tough weather conditions

The recent unexpected showers and snowfall in different parts of Baluchistan and AJ&K resulted in loss of life and property. With access routes blocked, temperature falling below freezing point and people stranded in these areas for days; Islamic Relief started a relief and recovery operation in the affected areas.

Blanketed in snow, the Sharda Valley of AJ&K, Pishin and Harnai Districts of Baluchistan, local communities are fighting the harsh weather conditions with inadequate facilities and resources.

After the opening of access routes, our teams together with the local governments started visiting the affected areas to assess the damages and needs. At both locations, we have ramped up our emergency response by distributing winterization kits comprising of blankets and clothes to stay warm.

In Baluchistan; under our emergency response the communities are supported with medicines, food items and fodder.

More than 2,700 families have been provided with lifesaving assistance at both places till now. With the needs of families still enormous, we are planning to expand our relief operations jointly with the local governments.
