Torrential rains and cloudbursts have triggered catastrophic flash floods across northern Pakistan, claiming over 340 lives in recent days. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), nine districts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa including Buner, Shangla, Swat, Mansehra, Bajaur, and Battagram — have been declared disaster-hit.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department warns of continued heavy rainfall until 21 August, with fresh monsoon spells expected in Balochistan from 18–22 August.
The Flood Forecasting Division has issued advisories for medium-to-high flood levels in River Kabul (Nowshera), River Indus (Kalabagh, Chashma), and their tributaries between 15–17 August 2025. The KP government has officially declared Buner, Bajaur, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, and Battagram as disaster-hit districts. Rescue 1122 has urged citizens to avoid floodwaters, drains, and bridges, and to immediately contact helplines in emergencies.
