For many of us, one of our happiest childhood memories is going back to school after the summer holidays. Meeting friends after weeks apart. Wearing a brand-new uniform. Carrying a new school bag. Opening fresh notebooks. Walking into a classroom full of excitement and hope.
It’s a feeling every child deserves. But for millions of children across Pakistan, the first day of school is just another day they watch pass by.

Every August, schools across Pakistan welcome children back to continue their academic year. Children from all over Pakistan are prepping for their new class at school buying new bags, shoes, stationary, uniforms, fancy geometry and lunch boxes. If this moment could ever be described, it would be described as sheer happiness and enthusiasm. Unfortunately, not all children are privileged enough to experience it. What was meant to be a basic right, is now a matter of privilege.

More than 25.1 million children in Pakistan remain out of school. For many families living in poverty, even when education is available, the cost of basic school supplies becomes an impossible barrier.
Without a school bag… Without a uniform…Without books or shoes… A child often misses the opportunity to begin their education. These children are not left behind because they lack dreams. They are left behind because they lack the essentials that allow those dreams to begin.
No child chooses the circumstances they are born into. Whether they are growing up in poverty or have lost one or both parents, every child deserves the dignity of walking into a classroom with confidence. Sometimes, all it takes is a school bag, a uniform, and the right learning materials to change the course of a child’s future.
A small act of kindness today can open the door to years of learning, opportunity, and hope.
Across the world, Islamic Relief has supported more than 285,000 people with education assistance across 21 countries, including Pakistan. From rebuilding schools and supporting mobile classrooms to providing educational materials and school equipment, Islamic Relief is helping children continue their education despite difficult circumstances.
This year, Islamic Relief Pakistan’s Back to School Campaign aims to ensure that vulnerable children begin the new school year with everything they need to learn with dignity and confidence.
Each child supported will receive essential school items that remove financial barriers and help them return to school with pride.

Education changes lives, but only when children can access it. By sponsoring a Back to School Kit, you can help remove the barriers keeping vulnerable children out of the classroom.
Your support will do more than provide school supplies. It will restore confidence, inspire hope, and give a child the chance to learn, dream, and build a brighter future.
