Islamic Relief aims to be the first on the ground when an emergency strikes, helping those affected immediately. When floods, droughts or earthquakes happen, we respond: providing life-saving aid to the most vulnerable families, who have lost completely everything, including food, clean water and medical assistance. Our response teams have responded to emergencies across all provinces of Pakistan over the past 25 years and we always aim to reach remote regions and communities.
Building Better Lives
We not only save lives, we also help rebuild them – we stay even after the situation has calmed, helping families restore their lives back together. We do this through developing the local infrastructure; such as roads, bridges, health centres and schools; providing shelter, access to clean water and helping people to earn a living.
Through all of our activities, we try to ensure communities are redeveloped to be stronger and no longer require help externally.
Reducing Future Risks
We don’t even stop there – where people are affected by the same disasters repeatedly, we work towards reducing the risk of a disaster to potential victims. Working closely with local communities, we have developed Early Warning Systems and provided essential training and equipment to ensure those communities are better prepared and more resilient to deal with future emergencies.
